Liebe Studierende, liebe Promovierende der BTU,
wie vielen von Euch bereits aufgefallen ist, sind die Gebührenbescheide für das kommende Semester besonders günstig ausgefallen. Grund hierfür ist eine wesentliche Veränderung ab dem SoSe 2023, die auf eine Entscheidung des Studierendenparlaments aufgrund der Einführung des Deutschlandtickets (49€ Tickets) zurückgeht:
Es wird das Semesterticket im SoSe nur für einen Monat – den April – geben. Ab dem 01. Mai 2023 ist das Semesterticket ungültig!
Im aktuellen Rückmeldebescheid könnt ihr bereits feststellen, dass die Gebühren für das Semesterticket entsprechend nur 36,05€ betragen. Ab Mai müsst Ihr Euch selbst um die Beschaffung einer Fahrkarte, die Eure individuellen Bedürfnisse abdeckt, kümmern.
Egal ob Euch diese Entscheidung nun freut oder eher verunsichert.. lasst Euch bitte gesagt sein, dass sich auch die studentische Selbstverwaltung diese Entscheidung nicht leicht gemacht hat. Sie ist das Ergebnis mehrerer kontroverser Diskussionen sowohl im StuRa als auch im StuPa. Letztendlich hatte das StuPa eine fristgerechte Entscheidung zu treffen. Dies führt nun zur Beendigung des Semesterticketvertrags angesichts des kommenden Deutschlandtickets. Einige wesentliche Argumente, die zu dieser Entscheidung geführt haben, sind die folgenden:
- Das Deutschlandticket gilt deutschlandweit und hat damit ein weitaus größeres Leistungsangebot als das Semesterticket
- Das Semesterticket selbst kostet etwa 36€ monatlich. Mit dem Deutschlandticket (49€ Ticket) ergibt sich eine Preissteigerung von 13€. Aufgrund des verhältnismäßig günstigen 49€ Tickets ist die Kostenersparnis, die durch das Solidarprinzip im Semesterticketangebot erzielt werden konnte (damals ein dreistelliger Betrag monatlich im Vergleich zu einer vergleichbaren VBB-Umweltkarte), nun im Vergleich zum Deutschlandticket weitaus geringer. Es wurden Zweifel daran laut, ob ein verpflichtender Solidaritätsbeitrag so noch vertretbar ist.
- Da es aktuell noch nicht völlig klar ist, wann genau das Deutschlandticket eingeführt wird (ab April oder ab Mai), wird das Semesterticket noch für einen weiteren Monat angeboten. Dadurch soll sichergestellt werden, dass Eure Mobilität nicht in der Einführungszeit des Deutschlandtickets eingeschränkt wird.
Um die gesamte Diskussion nachzuverfolgen seid Ihr herzlich dazu eingeladen, einen Blick in unsere Protokolle zu werfen. Sie werden noch bis nächste oder übernächste Woche ergänzt.
Natürlich ist uns bewusst, dass 13€ mehr pro Monat bereits eine Mehrbelastung für diejenigen, die auf regelmäßige Mobilität angewiesen sind, darstellt. Wir prüfen noch für Euch, inwieweit der Sozialfond weiterhin unterstützend für die Mobilität zur Uni genutzt werden kann. Außerdem sind wir sehr gespannt, wie sich die ÖPNV Tarife in den Bundesländern nach Einführung des Deutschlandtickets verändern werden.

Dear BTU students and doctoral students,
As many of you have already noticed, the billing notices for the coming semester have turned out to be particularly favorable. The reason for this is a significant change starting with the summer semester 2023, which is based on a decision of the student parliament due to the introduction of the Deutschlandticket (49€ ticket):
There will be the semester ticket in the SoSe only for one month – April. From 01 May 2023 the semester ticket will be invalid!
In the current re-registration notice you can already see that the fees for the semester ticket are accordingly only 36,05€. From May on, you will have to take care of the purchase of a ticket that covers your individual needs yourselves.
Whether you are happy about this decision or rather unsettled by it… please be aware that the student self-administration did not take this decision lightly. It is the result of several controversial discussions in the StuRa as well as in the StuPa. In the end, the StuPa had to make a timely decision. This now leads to the termination of the semester ticket contract in view of the upcoming Deutschlandticket. Some key arguments that led to this decision are the following:
- The Deutschlandticket is valid throughout Germany and thus has a much wider range of services than the Semesterticket.
- The semester ticket itself costs about 36€ per month. With the Deutschlandticket (49€ ticket), this results in a price increase of 13€. Due to the relatively affordable Deutschlandticket, the cost savings that were achieved with the solidarity principle in the semester ticket offer (before, this was a three-digit amount monthly compared to a comparable VBB environmental ticket) is now much lower in comparison to the Deutschlandticket. It raised doubts as to whether a mandatory solidarity contribution is still justifiable by this.
- Since it is currently not completely clear when exactly the Deutschlandticket will be introduced (from April or from May), the semester ticket will be offered for another month. This way we want to make sure that your mobility will not be restricted during the introduction period of the Deutschlandticket.

Of course we are aware that even 13€ more per month is already a burden for those who depend on frequent mobility. We are still checking for you to what extent the social fund can still be used for mobility to the university. We are also very curious to see how the public transport tariffs in the federal states will change after the introduction of the Deutschlandticket.
